Abstrakt

The aim of this article is to analyze a trilateral youth exchange project held in Kyrgyzstan between August 28 and September 10, 2023, funded by the Polish-German Youth Cooperation (PNWM). The research focuses on highlighting the significance of short-term intercultural exchanges for the development of participants’ intercultural competences as well as their integrative potential. The methodological approach was based on two primary sources of data: (1) archival materials of PNWM from 1993–2022 (including reports, statements, and documentation of selected projects), which provided a broader institutional context, and (2) empirical data collected during the exchange in Kyrgyzstan through participant observation, workshop notes, and participants’ responses to evaluation exercises. The findings indicate that short-term youth exchanges play a crucial role in fostering cultural sensitivity and intercultural competences, while at the same time contributing to the promotion of dialogue and international cooperation.
